In this multimedia production, a comatose man recreates his identity by delving deeply into his memories, while a panoply of family members and loved ones form scheming camps over grave neurological decisions. A profound, often comedic tour of the collective unconscious is coupled with the latest neuroscience in a compelling exploration of how the brain heals itself, and ultimately creates the mind.

Ovation Award winners Lyras & McCaskill team up with visual artist Corwin Evans, two time Grammy nominated sound engineer, Ken Rich, and three time Emmy winning editor, Peter Chakos, to create a multilayered theatrical escapade.

Alex Lyras and Robert McCaskill have collaborated on three previous projects for the stage. They share writing credit, Lyras performs and McCaskill directs.

The Common Air, a dramedy linking six disparate characters during an airport delay, due to a possible terrorist attack, was produced in Los Angeles in 2008 and ran for five months. The L.A. Times wrote, “Tensile energy and unflagging skill in his well-crafted, must-see show.”

The play was nominated for Best Original Play by the L.A. Ovation Awards and won for Best Original Score, crafted by Grammy-nominated collaborator, Ken Rich. Other nominations include the Los Angeles Drama Critic’s Circle for Best Writing, Best Solo Performance and Best Sound Design, and The LA Weekly Awards for Best Solo Performance, Best Comedy Direction and Best Sound Design. The play transferred Off Broadway to 45 Bleecker Street where it ran from November 2009 to July 2010. It has been performed at universities and festivals, and has been translated into German and Italian.

Unequalibrium, their previous collaboration, was produced in New York and selected for publication in New Playwrights: Best Plays as well as Best Men’s Monologues For the Twenty First Century. The show was produced again in Los Angeles, where it was nominated for a Los Angeles Drama Critic’s Circle Award for Best Solo Show.

Desperelics, their maiden collaboration, was produced in New York, and later at the HBO Workspace in Los Angeles. It led to a TV development deal based on their characters.

As a writing team, Lyras and McCaskill have developed pilots for NBC, FOX, Jerry Bruckheimer and Joel Silver. They have produced two feature films, and are in pre-production on a third.
